“Capturing the spirit of the horse on film is my greatest joy”

Born in Brazil, Jean Pierre Bisilliat gained an early and invaluable introduction to photography from his mother, Maureen Bisilliat, renowned for her books on indigenous cultures. Her photographs have graced the pages of some of the world’s major magazines.

Following in his mother’s foot steps, Jean Pierre’s enrolled in a School of Photography and early in his photojournalist career he gets an assignment to cover an Appaloosa Breeder profile; it was to be the kick off to his equine photography journey.

As a freelance photographer for Brazil’s Arabian Horse Association, he traveled the world, exposed to many different breeds, gaining knowledge of their essence and grace.

Jean Pierre has expanded his work to include additional breeds of horses. His clients include private individuals as well as publishing companies and corporate entities. Bringing an uncompromising eye for conformation, along with a unique appreciation for the nature of the horse, Jean Pierre not only produces a quality photograph, but works of art to be enjoyed for many years to come.
